In 1999, John & Sue Ebensberger started a hobby farm in Greene - a dream of John’s as he grew up on a farm. John and Sue, along with their children Jason & Teresa, would butcher their beef for personal consumption and to give away to family & friends. After years of rave reviews over the beef they were producing, West Forty (40 acres west of town) was born! Theresa was a full time vendor at the Des Moines Farmers Market on behalf of West 40. Teresa decided to open her own retail store in Ankeny in May 2021. West Forty Market is located in Uptown Ankeny and features over 120 cuts of beef, pork, chicken, bison, lamb and turkey - all raised on local Iowa farms and butchered in Iowa. We also feature over a dozen local products, including pasta, rubs, sauces and honey.
